Further emphasis of the course covers the role of exercise, nutrition and disease prevention & health promotion, Medicare and Medicaid, long-term care, and dealing with the process of death. Students will be given the opportunity to work in the geriatric field through a service learning project scheduled during the time of class at a local nursing home. The Healthy People documents and diversity issues will also be discussed.
