PAS 5854 - Acute Care Rotation

The student to learn the importance of medical and surgical triage, hone clinical thinking skills, and develop the ability to work effectively under stressful conditions. Throughout the course of this rotation the student will observe, participate, and interact with the emergency department (ED) or urgent care (UC) physician preceptor and staff to evaluate acute and critically ill and injured patients through the collection of historical, physical, and laboratory/radiographic data, formulating differential diagnoses, and discussions of treatment modalities.
Restrictions: Enrollment is restricted to students enrolled in the Physician Assistant Studies Program. Students must satisfactorily complete the didactic year of the PAS program with a 3.00 cumulative GPA and/or have permission of the PA Program Director before beginning courses in the clinical phase of the program.
