Description: Students read and critically analyze specific authors, novels, and the history of the novel, including the development of the novel to present day. Topics may include the cultural and historic reasons for the rise in popularity of the novel form, specific novels and their historical or cultural impact, and novelists who widened the definition of the genre among others.
