PAS 5003 - PA Practice, Policy and Ethics

Description: Students learn the historical perspectives of the physician assistant profession as well as an investigate current trends and issues including interprofessional teams and the PA-physician relationship. Intellectual honesty, medical ethics, academic and professional conduct are covered. The course introduces PA students to Physician Assistant professional organizations, requirements for PA licensure, certification and credentialing, and laws & regulations governing the practice of medicine by PAs. This course will also address health care delivery systems and health care policy prevalent for those practicing within the profession. Instruction in patient safety, quality improvement, prevention of medical errors and risk management are included.
