Business Administration General Information

Computerized information systems are common in every area of modern business. The demand for IS professionals who can design and maintain computerized information systems will continue to grow as we move into the 21st century. People majoring in IS become proficient in aspects of information system management common to all organizations, including: operating systems; local and global telecommunications; 5th generation programming; systems analysis; systems design; database and enterprise resource management; and e-business solutions.

The following policies of the College of Business and Technology apply to the Information Systems major: Entrance Requirements, Minimum Grade Requirements, Experiential Credit Limitation, Transfer Credit Limitation, English Proficiency, Upper Division Credit, Liberal Arts and Sciences and Residency.

Business General Education Requirements

A minimum of 49 hours of academic work in general education is required during the freshman and sophomore years.  For students transferring with the Associate of Arts degree or Associate of Science degree from a public institution in Oklahoma, all general education requirements will be satisfied with respect to degree requirements.  However, some majors may require other specific general education courses as program prerequisites or program requirements.  Students should consult advisors and the program’s plan of study for futher information.  Students are required to complete general education requirements by the time they have completed 90 semester hours of college work.  General Education Requirements for Bachelor’s Degrees

Policies of the College of Business and Technology

The following policies of the College of Business and Technology apply: Entrance Requirements, Minimum Grade Requirements, Experiential Credit Limitation, Transfer Credit Limitation, English Proficiency, Upper Division Credit, Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Residency.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY: English proficiency is a graduation requirement. Components I and II of English proficiency should be met with grades of “C” or better prior to the completion of 60 credit hours.
UPPER DIVISION CREDIT: Total hours must include at least 40 hours of credit in courses numbered 3000 and above.
LIBERAL ARTS & SCIENCES: At least 40 semester credit hours are required in the Liberal Arts and Sciences for the BBA and BT degrees and 55 semester credit hours in the Liberal Arts and Sciences for BS degrees.  Liberal Arts and Science courses are designated with a “#” after the course title.
RESIDENCY: At least 18 hours or one-half of the major, whichever is greater, must be taken in residency.
