Visually Impaired Certificate

Standard Certificate

The Applicant shall:


1.


Be admitted to the Graduate College prior to enrollment:

  1. Complete Application (contact 918-456-5511, ext 2093)
  2. Furnish an official transcript;

Hold a valid teaching certificate; elementary, elementary-secondary library media specialist, vocational-technical or special education;

Seventeen hours are required which takes two consecutive summers to complete:


  • SPED 5333 - Seminar: Instructional Strategies and Technology for Students with Visual Impairment
  • SPED 5333 - Seminar: Practicum in Visual Impairments
  • SPED 5453 - Contemporary Issues in Special Education Specific to Visual Impairment
  • SPED 5543 - Seminar: Eye/Vision Conditions and Problems in the Visually Impaired
  • SPED 5563 - Field Studies: Introduction to Braille
  • SPED 5563 - Field Studies: Orientation and Mobility for the Classroom Teacher

 

Additional Information


This special program for standard teacher certification in Visually Impaired is expected to be completed in two consecutive summer sessions. The program is comprised of two components and will be limited to 15 students each.
