CHER 4513 - History of Indian Education #

Studies Indian educational history by examining colonial civilization efforts, offerings of missionary and religious societies, and tribal educational systems through the 1800s. Examines these topics and policies in the 19th and 20th centuries: treaty provisions, boarding schools, milestone educational studies, Bureau of Indian Affairs policies, and Congressional legislation. Tribal self-determination in education.
