H ED 4403 - Physiology of Aging3 Credit Hours This course is designed to introduce the student to the physiological changes that take place as a result of aging or of age related pathology. Further emphasis of the course covers the role of exercise, nutrition and disease prevention & health promotion, Medicare and Medicaid, long-term care, and dealing with the process of death. Students will be given the opportunity to work in the geriatric field through a service learning project scheduled during the time of class at a local nursing home. The Healthy People documents and diversity issues will also be discussed. Prerequisite: H ED 1113 Personal Health.
