PHYS 5643 - Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics3 Credit Hours
This class is for first-year graduate students in physics and related fields. Familiarity with thermal physics at the level of an upper division undergraduate physics course is assumed. Material to be covered includes Gibbs distribution, thermodynamic laws and functions, Boltzmann distribution, Fermi and Bose distribution, non-ideal gas, kinetic and transport theory, and phase transitions.
