OCTH 5253 - Psychosocial Eval & Intervention

Description: This course explores theoretical frameworks, evaluation, intervention, and documentation related to occupational therapy intervention for individuals with psychiatric and behavioral disorders.  Related legislation and reimbursement issues will be discussed.  DSM classifications, common medications and their side effects, and the use of interventions across practice areas will be covered.

Credit Hours: 3
Lecture contact hours per week: 2
Lab / Studio contact hours per week: 2
Prerequisite: OCTH 5013 Introduction to OT, OCTH 5133 Occupational Analysis, and OCTH 5123 Group Dynamics & Communication.
Co-requisite: OCTH 5811 Level I Fieldwork A and OCTH 5253L Psychosocial Eval & Intervention Lab.
