SPED 4213 - Foundations, Future Trends, and Current Issues in Special Education CIP Code: 131001 Description: Students in this course will identify contributions of historical features, legal aspects, analysis of current/future trends and issues related to special education. Students will also learn how to apply trauma informed instruction strategies specifically for students with disabilities who have experienced trauma. An understanding toward the characteristics of varying disabilities, student Individualized Educational Plans (IEP), Response to Intervention (RTI), classroom assessment, IEP progress monitoring, and accountability assessment will also be addressed.
Credit Hours: 3 Lecture contact hours per week: 3 Prerequisite: EDUC 3113 Educational Psychology and EDUC 3313 Clinical Teaching & Pre-Internship I with a minimum grade of C or concurrent enrollment. Restrictions: Minimum 2.50 GPA.
