PHYS 5613 - Classical Mechanics

Description: This class is for first-year graduate students in physics and related fields. Familiarity with Newton’s mechanics at the level of an upper division undergraduate physics course is assumed. Material to be covered includes Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formalism, the least action principle, conservation laws, motion in a central field, collisions, small oscillations, and motion of a rigid body.
