HIST 3283 - The Age of Absolute Kings and Enlightenment, 1600-1763 CIP Code: 540101 Description: Students will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the era of absolutism and Enlightenment within the European context, with a particular emphasis on England and France. They will explore pivotal events such as the Thirty Years’ War, the age of Louis XIV, the constitutional crises of seventeenth-century England, the reigns of enlightened despots, The Old Regime, and the Enlightenment. Through engagement with primary and secondary sources and scholarly analyses, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the political, social, and cultural dynamics that shaped these nations.
