Description: Required for all history majors, the course introduces students to the fundamentals of historical practice. Preparing them for upper-level courses within the major and careers in the historical profession, students practice with methods and tools used by historians. Guided by the standards of professional practice, emphasis is given to locating, interpreting, and critiquing sources, forming historical questions; writing and presenting research; and recognizing how historiographical trends have framed historical narratives.
