PAS 5764 - Family Medicine Rotation CIP Code: 510912 Description: Students learn how the specialty of family medicine integrates the biological, clinical, and behavioral sciences to provide continuing and comprehensive health care for adult and elderly patients in the outpatient setting. This rotation will provide the opportunity to refine techniques of history-taking and physical examination specific to the family medicine patient population. This rotation will expose students to conditions that are unique to the family medicine patient population so students are able to refine their ability to make correct diagnoses and create appropriate management plans. The students learn the importance of continuity of care and how to coordinate that care with all members of the healthcare team. Students practice skills in patient education to meet health care goals, health care promotion, and disease prevention. This clinical experience will enable students to provide care as an entry-level physician assistant upon graduation.
Credit Hours: 4 Restrictions: Acceptance into the Physician Assistant Studies program.
