The College of Extended Learning offers certificate and degree completion programs targeted to working adults/nontraditional students. Each program is taught in an accelerated format by NSU faculty and expert practitioners from the community. The CEL offers busy adults opportunities for learning that are exceptional in quality and accessible while being reasonably priced. The CEL staff provides specialized, student-oriented services for adult learners who are interested or enrolled in offered programs. Currently, the college houses four degree completion programs: Criminal Justice, Health Care Administration, Human and Family Sciences, and Organizational Leadership. as well as a certificate in Emergency Management and Planning. The CEL also offers continuing education units for professional and personal growth and credentialing.

Criminal Justice Degree

The bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice provides a broad understanding of the criminal justice system, an overview of law and the American court system, and various electives that range from forensics to criminal investigations.  The program is offered through blended and online formats and can be completed in as little as two years.  For a sample plan of study, please click on the link below.

Health Care Administration

The Health Care Administration bachelor’s degree prepares an individual for a career in health care management with training in department and program management. Students will learn the different aspects of health service organizations and develop an understanding of the importance of collaborative efforts in public health initiatives. The program provides the skills to develop, plan and manage health care operations and services within health care facilities and across health care systems, from specific departments and services to entire facilities. Human and Family Sciences

The Bachelor of Science degree in Human and Family Sciences at NSU focuses on an integrative approach to the reciprocal relationships among individuals, families, and communities, as well as the environments in which they function. Leadership skill development in social contexts is an integral component of the degree.  For a sample plan of study, please click on the link below.

Reach Higher

Reach Higher is a flexible program that allows an individual to complete a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership within two years. Certificate in Emergency Management and Planning

Continuing Education

Northeastern State University is committed to being a full-service university. It is through Continuing Education that NSU can provide non-traditional or extraordinary offerings. Training can be rapidly developed and tailored to the needs of individuals or businesses. Training can be provided in areas that are on the cutting edge and have not been fully developed into the academic mainstream; or in areas where the instruction must be personalized and specific.

Due to its outreach abilities, the capability for risk taking, and class flexibility, NSUs Continuing Education program is able to reach out to all facets of the community. Opportunities are available in areas ranging from accounting to creative art. If an organization wishes to provide its entire staff with training in the latest word processing or spreadsheet software, continuing education can immediately respond. If an individual is planning a trip to Mexico, they can arrange for Continuing Education classes in conversational Spanish to be a part of their preparations.
