Students in the Nutritional Sciences- Dietetics option complete the ACEND-accredited coursework required to apply to ACEND-accredited Dietetic Internships and take the Registered Dietitian (RD) exam. The NSU Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) is the first step in the three step process of becoming a Registered Dietitian (RD). The second step is the successful completion of an ACEND-accredited Dietetic Internship. The third step is passing the national registration exam administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. The Didactic Program in Dietetics at Northeastern State University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, 120 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 2000, Chicago, IL 60606-6995; 312-899-5400. http://www.eatright.org/ACEND/
Students in the Nutritional Sciences- Allied Health option complete prerequisite courses needed to apply to a wide variety of health care professional programs or graduate school. Students have not completed the necessary course work required to apply to ACEND-accredited Dietetic Internships and take the Registered Dietitian (RD) exam.

General Education Requirements
A minimum of 49 hours of academic work in general education is required during the freshman and sophomore years. For students transferring with the Associate of Arts degree or Associate of Science degree from a public institution in Oklahoma, all general education requirements will be satisfied with respect to degree requirements. However, some majors may require other specific general education courses as program prerequisites or program requirements. Students should consult advisors and the program’s plan of study for further information. Students are required to complete general education requirements by the time they have completed 90 semester hours of college work. See General Education Requirements for Bachelor’s Degrees for more information. Nutritional Sciences Core - 38 hours
Complete the following courses in the Nutritional Sciences core with a minimum grade of C:
Allied Health Option - 20 hours
Controlled electives. Enrollment with approval from academic advisor or faculty mentor; course selection will depend on student’s health profession interest; at least 5 hours must be 3000/4000 level courses.
Courses for Allied Health must be completed with a minimum grade of C:
Dietetics Option - 24 hours
Complete the following courses for the Dietetics Option with a minimum grade of C:
Total Hours in the Major 58 - 62
Minor - 18 hours
A minor is required. The Prehealth Minor is recommended for the Allied Health Option.
Prerequisites for required classes:
May be used to meet general education or minor requirements or electives. A minimum grade of C is required on all science courses.
