Business Administration General Information 

The International Business major has been developed for students who are actively seeking to focus their education on the global dimensions of business. The International Business major has the objective of providing students with a solid basic business education and knowledge of the international dimensions of business. In addition to IBUS courses, students also choose an area of specialization to obtain depth in a field of business (e.g., marketing, finance, management, etc.) that will complement the international training and assist them in obtaining a first job.

It is recommended that students in the International Business major select their elective courses from the following areas:

  1. Foreign Languages (3000-4000 level)
  2. University credits resulting from study abroad (requires prior approval of university)
  3. International Business Internship (maximum of 6 hours requires prior approval).
  4. Additional upper division courses in any of the functional areas available for specialization, namely: Accounting, Marketing, Management, Finance, IS, HTM and Economics.

Business General Education Requirements


A minimum of 49 hours of academic work in general education is required during the freshman and sophomore years.  For students transferring with the Associate of Arts degree or Associate of Science degree from a public institution in Oklahoma, all general education requirements will be satisfied with respect to degree requirements.  However, some majors may require other specific general education courses as program prerequisites or program requirements.  Students should consult advisors and the program’s plan of study for futher information.  Students are required to complete general education requirements by the time they have completed 90 semester hours of college work.  General Education Requirements 

Students seeking Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degrees are encouraged to select these courses while completing General Education requirements.

Policies of the College of Business and Technology


The following policies of the College of Business and Technology apply: Entrance Requirements, Minimum Grade Requirements, Experiential Credit Limitation, Transfer Credit Limitation, English Proficiency, Upper Division Credit, Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Residency.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY: English proficiency is a graduation requirement. Components I and II of English proficiency should be met with grades of “C” or better prior to the completion of 60 credit hours.
UPPER DIVISION CREDIT: Total hours must include at least 40 hours of credit in courses numbered 3000 and above.
LIBERAL ARTS & SCIENCES: At least 40 semester credit hours are required in the Liberal Arts and Sciences for the BBA and BT degrees and 55 semester credit hours in the Liberal Arts and Sciences for BS degrees.  Liberal Arts and Science courses are designated with a “#” after the course title.
RESIDENCY: At least 18 hours or one-half of the major, whichever is greater, must be taken in residency.
