Program of Study
The PMBA program is a 30 semester hour program which is designed for the full-time working professional. The program is a highly structured lockstep program utilizing cohort student groups. The program imposes a workload that requires a high degree of discipline and commitment on the part of the student. By combining the use of case studies and interactive computing with research projects and lectures, the PMBA program culminates in a capstone in which students consult businesses in the field.
Admissions
Northeastern State University seeks highly qualified applicants for the PMBA program. The admission decision is based on an evaluation of all application materials submitted by the individual. To be considered for admission to the PMBA program, the student must have completed basic competency assessment or coursework in six content areas of management, marketing, economics, statistics, accounting and finance. In addition, the applicant must have three years of full-time work experience prior to the program admission. To apply for admission to the program the following documents are required:
- a transcript showing undergraduate degree program;
- 450 minimum score on an official Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score report;
- a current resume showing all academic honors and three years full-time work experience;
- an approved application for graduate admission,
- two letters of recommendation.
In some cases an interview may be scheduled before admission to the program. Previous graduate degrees or extensive work experience may be considered for individual case exceptions.
Degree Requirements
A student must complete a minimum of 30 semester hours of graduate course work with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Admission to Candidacy
Admission to the PMBA degree program does not imply admission to candidacy. Students are eligible to be admitted to candidacy if they have:
- Been regularly admitted to the PMBA program;
- Been assigned an advisor by the Graduate College from the College of Business graduate faculty;
- Filed a degree plan signed by the student, the advisor, and the Dean of the Graduate College;
- Filed a Statement of Understanding signed by the student and the advisor with the Graduate College;
- Completed a minimum of twelve graduate hours as prescribed by the degree plan;
- Maintained a 3.0 average in all course work by the date of candidacy. Fifteen semester hours toward the master’s degree must be completed after being admitted to candidacy.
Requirements for Graduation
In addition to the requirements for admission to graduate study, admission to candidacy and the general regulations and requirements for graduation, the candidate for the Professional Master of Business Administration must successfully complete PMBA 5913 Integrative Project or Research to the satisfaction of the Program Director and the sponsoring organization.
