This Bachelor of Science degree program is designed to prepare people for careers in a variety of environmental related fields including government, industrial and privately owned companies. This interdisciplinary degree is a 55 semester hour major-minor program. A Safety minor is highly recommended for students who choose to major in this program. Students will receive education in the following areas: waste identification/classification, regulatory compliance, permitting, process reporting requirements (Tier two, Form R, etc.), storage and disposal options, and treatment methods. A major emphasis is placed on emergency preparedness and response. An internship is available for those who qualify that offers on-the-job training. Those who wish to work for governmental agencies such OSHA, EPA, and the NRC or allied health related fields will need to take additional appropriate science and mathematics courses.
