American Indian Studies Major B.A.

The Bachelor of Arts in American Indian Studies is designed for all persons interested in the cultural heritage and history of American Indian peoples. The major is a multi-disciplinary liberal arts program with required courses in anthropology, history, literature, and political science or criminal justice. Electives can be chosen from a broad choice of subjects which focus on Native Americans and their experiences as well as their influences within society.
American Indian Studies majors must also select a minor or a second major. Suggested minors include: anthropology, business administration, criminal justice, health care administration, history, hospitality and tourism management, paralegal studies, public administration, sociology, and social welfare. A student may want to consider selecting a second major in one of the above areas, or combining American Indian Studies with another appropriate major.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY: |
English proficiency is a graduation requirement. Components I and II of English proficiency should be met with grades of “C” or better prior to the completion of 60 credit hours. |
UPPER DIVISION CREDIT: |
Total hours must include at least 40 hours of credit in courses numbered 3000 and above. |
LIBERAL ARTS & SCIENCES: |
At least 80 semester credit hours are required in the Liberal Arts & Sciences. The geography major together with general education hours, provides for 62 hours. The student is advised to take a minor or second major in Liberal Arts & Sciences fields in order to satisfy this requirement. |
