Instructional Leadership, M.Ed. Embedded Certificate

Candidates acquire the information required to develop a curriculum management plan including writing curriculum, creating assessments, monitoring, and evaluating the curriculum.  The certificate will also provide candidates with knowledge about working with adults.  

At least 25 percent of the coursework applied to this embedded certificate must be satisfactorily completed at NSU.

Student Learning Outcomes

1. Incorporate the essential aspects of a school system into a curriculum management plan: the written curriculum guide, monitoring, evaluation, assessment, and professional development.
2. Create quality, written curriculum guides for all subjects that effectively guide classroom instruction.
3. Create quality assessments that are aligned in context, content, and cognition to the written, taught, and assessed curricula.
4. Use interpretations of assessment data to evaluate and adjust the written and taught curricula.
5. Connect curriculum development, implementation, evaluation, and revision to assessment, professional development, and classroom monitoring.
6. Apply basic principles of adult learning when working with teachers and administrators in their school / district.
