Jazz Studies and Commercial Music

The jazz studies minor deepens students’ appreciation and understanding of the jazz tradition. Through the study of theory, harmony, improvisation, and performance in ensembles, students can gain the skills needed to become a more well-rounded educator, musician, or gain a broader musical worldview. The jazz studies minor is open to any student regardless of their undergraduate major.
