COUN 5183 - Addiction Counseling Theories

3 Hours. An introduction to major theories of counseling and methods of counseling; specific emphasis on models/methods for alcohol and substance abuse/dependency counseling. Current treatment research, theoretical model application, and successful methods in the treatment process will be examined. Causes, social implication, treatment, cultural competency and prevention methods/skills will also be examined.
Prerequisite: Prerequisite: Full admission to the Counseling Program or departmental permission.
