The course defines sexism and the roots of sexism. It also presents an overview of the continuum of violence against women, both nationally and globally, including women’s institutional status, psychological wounding, gendered communication, economic assults, controlling women’s bodies, pornography and prostitution, sexual harassment, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, female genital mutilation, dowry payments, religious abuse, foot-binding, and other topics.
