CBT Degree Map TECHNOLOGY
The Bachelor of Technology program is designed to serve students interested in emerging technologies or those who have an applied associate of science degree, documented training and/or verifiable skills in an exclusive vocational/technical area, full-time military experience, or business/industrial training and who desire a bachelor’s degree. A specific program of study for each student is contracted on the basis of his/her career goals and previous training. Each student must complete the following criteria:
- A Career Exploration phase with faculty assistance before admittance to the program.
- A minimum of 30 hours from NSU.
- A total of 60 hours credit from a four-year school. Forty of the 60 hours must be at the junior/senior (3000/4000) level.
- Completion of 40 hours of Liberal Arts courses.

- An Internship is recommended for students entering the workplace, changing disciplines, or making significant changes in job description.
- The advisor will help the student prepare an individualized program of study, which becomes a learning contract when approved by the Chair of the Department of Information Systems & Technology. Students may be approved to take coursework in any other department in order to meet specific career objectives. Emphasis areas have been developed for Service Occupations, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain /Logistics. Curricula have also been developed for specific area industries.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Apply the principles specific to chosen technical and occupational field in problem solving activities that enhance the organization.
- Discuss the techniques required in industrial or service settings to lead, manage, and motivate others.
- Conduct internal and external audits of the processes and functions in successful industrial and service organizations.
- Discuss and evaluate challenging ethical situations that may arise in performing the functions of their chosen technical field.
- Plan the flow of work and materials through a multi-level system of functions and sources.
- Assess the quantity of production and services with the application of statistical quality tools as a means of identification and improvement.
- Conduct research, categorize, and present information orally and in a vareity of written formats.
- Analyze the costs of operational decisions and demonstrate the ability to effectively choose from a finite number of alternatives.
- Explain differences and similarities between management and leadership and the proper application of both.
- Describe the impact of technological developments on the lives of people living in an advanced industrial society.
- Develop a practitioner’s view of the scope and magnitude of problems arising in labor/management relationships.

General Education Requirements - 46 hours
A minimum of 46 hours of academic work in general education is required during the freshman and sophomore years. For students transferring with the Associate of Arts degree or Associate of Science degree from a public institution in Oklahoma, all general education requirements will be satisfied with respect to degree requirements. However, some majors may require other specific general education courses as program prerequisites or program requirements. Students should consult advisors and the program’s plan of study for further information. Technical electives can be transferred in from a previous program, American Council of Education (ACE) equivalency recommendations, prior learning assessments and/or fulfilled through a department chair approved plan utilizing CBT coursework in 3000-4000 level ENVM, SAFM, TECH, IS, BADM, CS, SCM and MGMT courses.

In addition to general education and program requirements stated above, additional hours may be needed to satisfy all minimum degree requirements listed below.
- English Proficiency: Components I and II of English proficiency should be met with grades of “C” or better prior to the completion of 60 credit hours.
- A minimum of 120 hours is required. PE activity cannot be counted toward the total degree credit hours. Prior learning credit (CLEP, Advanced Standing, Military Credit, etc) is limited to 30 hours.
- A minimum of 30 hours in residence (from NSU) is required for graduation. Hours in residence exclude zero-level courses and prior learning credit such as CLEP, Advanced Placement, Advanced Standing, Military Credit, etc.
- A minimum of 40 hours of 3000/4000 level courses is required for graduation.
- A minimum of 60 hours from a 4-year school is required for graduation excluding zero level and PE activity courses.
- At least fifty percent of the major requirements must be upper division courses (3000 and 4000 level).
- At least 18 hours or fifty percent of the major, whichever is greater, must be satisfactorily completed at NSU.
- The minimum number of credit hours required in the Liberal Arts and Sciences varies based on the type of degree. B.B.A and B.T. degrees require at least 40 hours and the B.S. degree requires at least 55 hours. Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) courses are identified in catalog course descriptions.
