Purpose

The Bachelor of Science in Sport/Recreation Management is designed to prepare students for a variety of career opportunities in the field of sport and recreation management. The career opportunities may include sport administrators in college or K-12 schools, coaches, state and national park manager, etc. Furthermore, students with B.S. Sport/Recreation management can pursue advanced degrees in the areas of sport management or recreation management. 

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of fundamental principles in the sport/recreation management professions including management, marketing, public relations, finance, psycho-social and legal concepts.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to make ethical decisions in the sport/recreation management professions.
  3. Demonstrate the oral, written and interpersonal communication skills necessary for effective sport/recreation management professions.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to use technology effectively in the sport/recreation professions.
  5. Demonstrate the ability for personal growth and development through immersive learnings.

General Education Requirements - 46 hours


A minimum of 46 hours of academic work in general education is required during the freshman and sophomore years.  For students transferring with the Associate of Arts degree or Associate of Science degree from a public institution in Oklahoma, all general education requirements will be satisfied with respect to degree requirements.  However, some majors may require other specific general education courses as program prerequisites or program requirements.  Students should consult advisors and the program’s plan of study for further information.  Students are required to complete general education requirements by the time they have completed 90 semester hours of college work.  General Education Requirements
